{"id":13012,"date":"2026-03-04T09:32:17","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T09:32:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/impdiagnostics.com\/?p=13012"},"modified":"2026-04-09T11:18:23","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T11:18:23","slug":"international-hpv-awareness-day-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/impdiagnostics.com\/en\/news-en\/international-hpv-awareness-day-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"International HPV Awareness Day 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong> HPV (Human papillomavirus)<\/strong> is a virus that approximately 75% to 80% of sexually active individuals will come into contact with at some point in their lives, often without being aware of it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2025, 15% of the HPV molecular detection tests processed by <a href=\"https:\/\/pt.linkedin.com\/company\/imp-diagnostics\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/pt.linkedin.com\/company\/imp-diagnostics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IMP Diagnostics<\/a> returned positive results, highlighting the prevalence of this virus within portuguese society. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HPV is the primary risk factor for the development of cervical, penile, anal and oropharyngeal cancer. For this reason, screening is essential for both women and men, not only to prevent serious diseases, but also to help interrupt chains of transmission within the community.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Discussing HPV, therefore, is about health, prevention and the future, as well as breaking taboos and taking care of ourselves and those around us.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You might be
