On October 3, IMP Diagnostics hosted a full day dedicated to reflecting on how Artificial Intelligence is transforming Medicine, from prevention to diagnosis, and from research to clinical practice.
The program covered key areas of Healthcare, demonstrating how AI models are paving the way for more precise, efficient, and human-centered medicine:
Gastroenterology: Mário Dinis-Ribeiro and Miguel Coimbra presented concrete examples of how AI in endoscopy can support the prevention of gastric cancer, making screening faster and more accurate.
Dermatology: Catarina Barata and Helena Pópulo showed how AI models support clinical decision-making in melanoma treatment, while Rafael Ventura Franco highlighted the role of technology in early detection, bringing citizens and healthcare professionals closer together.
Medical Imaging: In a very distinctive session, Nikolaos Papanikolaou, PhD, and João Abrantes explored human–machine collaboration and how trust and workflow integration are shaping the future of medical imaging.
Anatomical Pathology and Oncology: Jaime Cardoso and Diana Montezuma Felizardo discussed the dialogue between engineering and pathology, while Hadassah Sade and Corina Cotoi (AstraZeneca) demonstrated how digital tools are redefining biomarker discovery and clinical impact.
To close the event, a debate on the role of AI, medical imaging, and medicine brought together experts from different fields to share perspectives on ethics, innovation, and the responsible integration of technology into healthcare.
A huge thank you to all the speakers, participants, and institutional partners who made this event possible. Docs Meet Techs was created with the purpose of bringing together doctors and technologists, and this inaugural edition made it clear that the future of healthcare depends on this collaboration.
