IMP Projects

Project ARABESC

The ARABESC project is a collaboration initiative between IMP Diagnostics and WSK Medical that will utilize cutting-edge AI algorithms to develop an automated system capable of providing an accurate assessment of the Tumor-Stroma Ratio (TSR) in colorectal cancer, with the potential to apply this technology to other oncological diseases. This innovative solution aims to improve diagnostic accuracy, reduce the workload of pathologists, and ultimately enhance patient outcomes.

ONCOFUTURE4AZ

The Hospital do Divino Espírito Santo de Ponta Delgada (HDES) and the Azores Oncology Center (COA) have launched ONCOFUTURE4AZ, a pioneering project bringing an innovative and personalized approach to colorectal cancer to the Azores.

In partnership with IMP Diagnostics, INESC TEC, the Portuguese Institute of Oncology of Porto (IPO-Porto), and GIMM (Gulbenkian Institute of Science and Molecular Medicine), the consortium combines genetics, the microbiome, and artificial intelligence to improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of colorectal cancer.

Project CADPath.AI

CADPath.AI represents a disruptive solution, based on the best and latest technology, that allows a considerable leap in the way anatomopathological diagnosis of histological samples is currently performed, making this process completely digital, automated, and carried out by algorithms that not only identify anomalies but also provide associated diagnosis.

Dr. Diana Montezuma Felizardo contributed to an opinion article published in the prestigious The Pathologist, entitled “AI in Pathology Fails Without Pathologists.” The article explores the fundamental role of pathologists in the development and implementation of digital pathology and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, highlighting why human clinical expertise is essential to creating tools that genuinely add value to the diagnostic process.
