March 24th marks World Tuberculosis Day. On this occasion, we take the opportunity to reinforce the importance of precision in the fight against this disease.
In Portugal, although tuberculosis cases have been declining annually, 2024 saw an increase, with more than 1500 diagnosed cases. In 2023, the fatality rate for this disease was 4.8% (Relatório da Vigilância e Monitorização da Tuberculose, 2024). Portugal is therefore one of the European countries with the highest tuberculosis incidence rate, at over 10 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
In this context, IMP Diagnostics provides advanced diagnostic solutions that enable quick, reliable and highly sensitive detection of the disease, namely:
- Test for Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex with antimicrobial resistance identification;
- Test for Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex with antimicrobial resistance identification.
